This website (the "Save Family Farms" campaign by Family Farmers Feeding US, "we," "us," or "our") supports family farmers affected by consolidation in the fertilizer market. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our website.

Information We Collect

Our Take Action tool has two parts. The first asks for your contact information. The second, which is entirely optional, asks about your experience so we can help you draft a complaint email.

To take action, we ask you to provide:

• First and last name
• Cell phone number
• Email address
• City, state, and ZIP code

If you choose to continue and share your story, we also collect:

• Whether you identify as a farmer or producer, a vendor, or other
• Farm or business name (optional)
• The written answers you provide describing your experience with fertilizer contracts, supply, sourcing, and pricing

Sharing your story is optional. You may provide your contact information and stop there, and we will keep your contact information on the terms described in this policy.

We also record whether you checked the box consenting to receive text messages, the exact wording of the consent you were shown, and the date and time you gave it.

We also record the draft email generated from your answers, and whether you chose to open your email application or copy the text.

We automatically collect limited technical information, including your IP address and browser type, through standard server logs. We also collect information through cookies and advertising technologies as described in the next section.

Cookies, Pixels, and Advertising Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies, including advertising pixels, to measure how our advertising performs and to reach people who may be interested in this campaign.

Specifically, we use:

• The Meta Pixel, provided by Meta Platforms, Inc., which operates Facebook and Instagram. This allows us to measure how many people who saw our advertising visited this site and took action, and to reach similar audiences.
• A programmatic advertising platform, also called a demand-side platform, which allows us to measure and optimize our digital advertising.

These technologies may set cookies on your device and collect information including your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you viewed, and the actions you took on this site. These companies may combine that information with other information they already hold about you.

We do not transmit your name, your contact information, or the content of your story to any advertising partner. Advertising technologies are configured so that they do not capture the information you enter into the submission form.

These technologies load when you visit the site. You may opt out at any time using the methods described in the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information section below.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information you provide for the following purposes:

• To generate a draft complaint email in your own words, which you review before sending
• To include your name, location, and operation in that draft so the Commission knows who is writing
• To maintain internal records of submissions for organizational reporting
• To send you updates about this campaign by email
• If you gave separate consent, to send you campaign updates by text message
• To contact you if we have a question about a story you shared
• To measure the performance of our advertising and to reach people who may be interested in this campaign

You may ask us to stop sending updates at any time. See Text Messages below for how to stop texts, and Your Rights for how to reach us about anything else.

Text Messages

We ask for your cell phone number so we can reach you about this campaign. The box consenting to text messages is unchecked by default. We send text messages only if you check it yourself.

Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of using this site, of submitting your story, or of anything else we offer. You can provide your cell phone number, leave the box unchecked, and use the submission tool normally.

If you do consent, you should know:

• Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan
• Message frequency varies
• You can reply STOP to any message to stop receiving them
• You can reply HELP for assistance, or contact us at the address below

We keep a record of the consent language you were shown and the date and time you agreed, so that we can demonstrate your consent if we are ever asked to.

We do not sell or rent your cell phone number, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. Text messages are delivered through a messaging service provider acting on our behalf, which is permitted to use your number only to deliver our messages.

How Your Draft Email Is Created

If you choose to share your story, we send your answers to Anthropic, an artificial intelligence provider, which returns a draft written in your own words. We send only what the draft needs: your name, your city and state, your farm or business name if you gave one, and the answers you wrote. We do not send your cell phone number or your email address to Anthropic. Anthropic processes this information solely to generate your draft and acts as our service provider in doing so.

You always see the draft before anything happens with it, and you can edit or delete any part of it. Please avoid entering sensitive personal information, such as financial account numbers or government identification numbers, into the submission form.

How We Share Your Information

We do not send your complaint for you. When you finish the form, your email application opens with the draft already filled in, or you copy the text yourself. You are the sender. Your message travels from your own email account directly to the Federal Trade Commission, and we are not a party to that message.

We share information with the following categories of third parties:

• Our artificial intelligence provider, as described above, solely to generate your draft
• The infrastructure providers that host this website and deliver its fonts
• Advertising and measurement partners, including Meta Platforms and our programmatic advertising platform, which receive the technical and activity information described in the Cookies, Pixels, and Advertising Technologies section

We do not sell your personal information for money. Certain state privacy laws define "sale" and "sharing" broadly enough to include the use of advertising technologies described above. See the State Privacy Rights section below.

We may also disclose information you submit pursuant to a subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or as otherwise required or requested by law, regulation, or government authority, or to protect our rights or the rights or safety of third parties. We may share de-identified or aggregated information without restriction.

The information on this website is provided for informational and educational purposes only and should not be construed as legal advice. Submitting information through this website does not create an attorney-client relationship, and neither Family Farmers Feeding US nor its counsel becomes your attorney. Nothing you submit here should be understood as privileged or confidential legal communication. You should consult an attorney of your own choosing for advice about your particular situation.

Data Retention

We retain submission records for the duration of the Federal Trade Commission's fertilizer investigation and this campaign. When the campaign concludes, we will delete personally identifiable information from our records. You may request deletion of your information at any time by contacting us.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Request access to the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your information
• Withdraw your consent to receive campaign updates, including text messages
• Opt out of the sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising

State Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, and comparable laws in other states. We do not sell personal information in exchange for money. However, the advertising technologies described in this policy may constitute "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and may be treated as a "sale" under some state laws. You have the right to opt out, as described in the next section.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

You may opt out of the sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising in any of the following ways:

Opting out will not affect your ability to use this website or to submit your story.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Our website does not respond to Do Not Track browser signals, because there is no common industry standard for interpreting them. We do honor the Global Privacy Control signal as a valid request to opt out of the sharing of personal information for targeted advertising.

Security

We protect your information using industry-standard security measures, including HTTPS encryption, access-controlled storage, and password protection on our internal records. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's Privacy

Our website is intended for a general, adult audience and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us so we can delete it.
